1 July 2024 Memorandum

Queridos directores anfitriones, archivistas y bibliotecarios:

Con la aprobación del financiamiento de la Fundación Mellon, podemos comenzar nuestra colaboración a partir de julio. A continuación, adjunto la hoja de cálculo de asignación de becarios con la información de contacto de los becarios asignados que hemos reclutado hasta el momento. Si su institución aún no tiene un becario asignado, nos comunicaremos con usted tan pronto como lo entrevistemos y asignemos a alguien.

Nuestro objetivo es que los becarios comiencen la segunda semana de julio. Pronto programaré reuniones individuales con todos ustedes, pero espero que se puedan hacer arreglos para esa semana o la siguiente para recibir a los becarios. Por favor, organicen una reunión inicial y una fecha de inicio con sus becarios asignados. Nosotros también verificaremos eso y proporcionaremos toda la información que necesiten para comenzar y recibir su pago.

Sofia Feliciano (¡una veterana de nuestro programa de pasantías!) será nuestra gerente de programa en Puerto Rico y se pondrá en contacto con ustedes para darles detalles adicionales, incluidas las necesidades de hardware. También actualizaremos todo esto en nuestro sitio web, incluyendo listados detallados del trabajo que se está realizando en colecciones específicas.

Algunas notas técnicas:

  • Compartiremos una carpeta con los currículos de todos los becarios.
  • Sofia se comunicará para asegurarse de que tenemos la información correcta en nuestro sitio web. Mientras tanto, podemos realizar cambios en los materiales que se refieren a su institución o programa.
  • Hemos agregado a directores, bibliotecarios y archiveros a esta lista de correo electrónico para mantener a todos informados.
  • Si desea responder a todos en la lista, asegúrese de que la lista de correo electrónico sea el destinatario; de lo contrario, asegúrese de que Sofia o yo seamos los destinatarios.
  • Si hay alguien más que crea que deberíamos agregar a esta lista, avísenos.
  • Sofia compartirá algunos documentos y hojas de cálculo de Google a medida que desarrolle los procedimientos para el trabajo de los becarios y los controles de producción e informes.

Consideramos que esta es una colaboración multifacética que tiene como objetivo ayudar a su institución con sus metas, pero el programa, tal como se concibió, también nos exige capacitar a los becarios y ayudarlos en sus objetivos profesionales e intelectuales. Tenemos la oportunidad de ayudar a capacitar a una gran grupo de jóvenes talentosos.

Dear host directors, archivists and librarians,

With the approval of the funding from the Mellon Foundation we can proceed with our collaboration beginning in July. I have reproduced below the intern assignment spreadsheet with the contact info for the assigned interns we have recruited so far.  If your site does not have an intern assigned yet we will be in touch with you as soon as we interview and assign someone..

Our goal is to start the interns the second week of July. I will soon arrange Individual discussions with all of you but I am hoping that arrangements can be made for that week or the following week to receive the interns. Please arrange for an initial meeting and a start date with your assigned interns. We will check in on that as well and provide all the information they need to get started and get paid. 

Sofia Feliciano (a veteran of our internship program!) will be our program manager in Puerto Rico and she will be in touch with additional details including hardware needs. We will be updating all of this to our website as well, including detailed listings of what work is being done in specific collections..

A few technical notes:

  • We will share a folder with the resumes of all the interns.
  • Sofia will be reaching out to make sure we have correct information on our website.  In the meantime we can make changes to the materials that refer to your institution or program..  
  • We have added director, librarian and archivists to this email list just to keep everyone informed.
  • If you want to reply to all on the list make sure the email list is the recipient; if not, make sure I or Sofia are the recipients.
  • If there is anyone else you think we should add to this list just let us know.
  • Sofia will share some google docs and sheets as she develops the procedures for intern work and production checks and reports.

We consider this a multi sided collaboration that aims to assist your institution with its goals but the program as conceived also calls for us to to train the interns and help them towards their professional and intellectual goals. We have the opportunity to help train a large cohort of talented young people.
